Airmail flight cover, Pan American Airways, first Pacific survey flight, San Francisco to Honolulu, April 16-17; Honolulu to San Francisco, April 22-23, 1935; a. cover: gray cachet with text "First flight, Pan American Clipper, Hawaii - California"; red cachet at bottom right corner with text "Pan American Clipper, First flight, California - Hawaii"; three postmarks on front: April 16 [illegible], 1935 from San Francisco, California; April 22, 1935 from Honolulu, Hawaii; April 23, 1935 from San Francisco, California with football-shaped killers over three 6-cent postage stamps at upper edge; two backstamps: April 16, 1935 from Alameda, California, and April 17, 1935 from Honolulu, Hawaii; addressed to Robert C. Kipp. b. enclosure: 6-3/4" x 5-1/2" sheet of letterhead with handwritten note from addressee, dated March 30, 1935. c. information sheet: 8 1/2 x 11 with black text; additional information prepared by donor, including route information; flight cover was received mounted to sheet with photo corners.
